Three Tsinghua Ph.D. candidates have been recently selected to attend the 55th Lindau Meeting of Nobel Prize Winners, held from June 26th to July 1st.
The three students are Qi Xiaoliang from the Department of Physics, Ge Jianping from the Department of Chemistry, and Wang Yawu, from the Department of Biological Sciences and Biotechnology. Together with the other 22 Ph.D. students chosen from the whole country, they will have the chance to listen to the speeches given by the Nobel Prize Laureates and talk with them face-to-face. The 25 Chinese Ph.D. students will also visit some renowned research institutes in Germany after the meeting.
Departing from the traditional rotation of the disciplines medicine and physiology, chemistry, and physics, the 2005 Meeting will be an interdisciplinary meeting. Its invitation has already been accepted by about 52 Nobel Laureates from different fields of scientific disciplines across the world.
