TOKYO, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- Central Japan's Nara prefecture and China's elite Tsinghua University held a seminar in Tokyo on Thursday, praising a joint exhibition of relics from Han and Tang dynasties held last year and envisaging more cultural exchanges between Japan and China.

Speaking at the seminar, Governor of Nara prefecture Shogo Arai said that exchanges between Japan and China are of great significance to Japan, stressing that the prefecture has a long history of exchanges between Japan and China, and it is willing to contribute to promoting the world's understanding of China.

Wang Hongwei, vice president of Tsinghua University, delivered a video speech, saying that the exhibition is a milestone in promoting art and cultural exchanges between the two countries.

Chen Zheng, minister counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Japan, said that people-to-people exchanges, including cultural exchanges, are treasures for the development of China-Japan relations, and have played an important role in restoration and growth of bilateral ties.

Noting that this year marks the 45th anniversary of the signing of the China-Japan Treaty of Peace and Friendship, Chen said that the two sides would take the opportunity to have more exchanges in various fields and deepen trust between the two peoples.

The exhibition was held in the Chinese capital city of Beijing from Sept. 24 to Dec. 4 last year.
