Recruit | Stories in the pandemic

The outbreak of coronavirus (CoVID-19) has taken the world by surprise and confirmed our shared global vulnerability to the appearance of new pathogens. It has been repeatedly indicated in history that real protection comes from the sharing of reliable scientific information, and from global solidarity.

As the largest global youth association on One Belt One Road, we are always there to help cope with urgents issues and emergencies in the world, in our pursuit of a shared future for humankind.

With the support of the Center for Global Competence Development, the International Students and Scholars Center, and the One Belt One Road Research Institute, SABRI members from both China and other countries organized spontaneously "International Humanitarian Assistance for Fighting against COVID-19 Pandemic".  The action is also a vivid portrayal of the association's core spirit-to be patient and devoted.

A Memory of SABRI Members fighting against COVID-19

1. Online Cooperation for China

At the beginning, our multi-language volunteers took on the job of information management and translation, sought for available medical supplies globally and called for humanitarian assistance. We donated the supplies including surgical masks, gowns, safety googles and gloves to the frontline in cooperation with the COVID-19 Prevention and Control Headquarter in Huanggang, Hubei. We also shot a video together with international students in Tsinghua in support of the great work done by medical workers.

2. Support for Other Countries

When the pandemic broke out suddenly in a global scale, we launched a fundraiser inside the association, and donated the medical supplies to Italy, Iran, Britian, and Russia, etc, with the help of Chinese Embassies and Consulates abroad and Tsinghua Overseas Alumni Association.

3. Experience Sharing

Lately, we organized several webinars to share Chinese experience to medical institutions and ministry of public health management in countries seeing deteriorating situation including Nepal, Bangladesh and Pakistan, in collaboration with their Embassies in China and medical institutions in Hubei and Beijing. The shared experience covered subjects like clinical treatment and conventional medicines, etc.
