In order to control cross-infection from covid-19 and improve the recovery rate of patients efficiently in the cabin hospitals and the other hospitals (such as that for severe infectious diseases) in Wuhan and Beijing, the team of Professor Lin Borong and Associate Professor Liu Li of the Department of Building Science, School of Architecture, Tsinghua University, have developed a high-precision Intelligent Built Environment Online Monitoring System ( iBEMs) applied to the key diagnosis and treatment spaces of Huoshenshan Hospital, Leishenshan Hospital, Jinyintan Hospital and Dahuashan Cabin Hospital in Wuhan and one hospital in Beijing.

As of March 16th, 32 sets of iBEMs have been installed and applied in the hospital in Beijing for 10 weeks continuously, and 154 sets installed and applied in Huoshenshan, Leishenshan, Jinyuntan Hopitals and Dahuashan Cabin Hospital in Wuhan for over 2 weeks. About 12240 m2 space, 266 ordinary beds and 105 ICU beds were covered by iBEMs (see Table 1). iBEMs were installed in places that are particularly vulnerable to cross-infection. The key indoor environment parameters, including concentrations of CO2 and PM2.5, temperature, relative humidity and illumination, have been monitored and alerted in real time. All the monitored data have been uploaded to the cloud with a 3G SIM card every five minutes, and also locally stored with a SD card. Through the analysis of the characteristics and approaches of virus concentration distribution based on the collected data, the team excavated indoor risk points, investigated problematic ventilation and purification systems, and provided continuous improvement suggestions . With the help of iBEMs, hospitals succeeded to identify and resolve problems in a timely fashion.
