Environmentally sound management and the control of hazardous waste transboundary movement are among the popular directions for environmental protection, which has also created a multi-trillion-dollar industry. This course focuses on hazardous waste management policies, processes and technologies for treatment and disposal, related engineering and practice. The main content of the course includes: 1) Fundamental theory of hazardous waste; 2) International hazardous waste management; 3) National policies and regulations on hazardous waste management; 4) Hazardous waste generation and identification; 5) Hazardous waste infrastructure construction and operation; 6) Hazardous waste pollution prevention; 7) Resource utilization and related technologies of hazardous waste; 8) Land-based disposal technology for hazardous waste; 9) Land-based disposal technology for hazardous waste; 10) Thermal technologies for hazardous waste destruction; 11) Co-disposal technologies for hazardous wastes; 12) Remediation technologies of contaminated sites; 13) Remediation technologies of contaminated sites; 14) Environmental risk assessment of hazardous wastes; 15) Hazardous waste management and related technologies.
The course is designed to develop students' ability to fully understand the management policies of hazardous waste and its treatment and disposal technology, with an emphasis on hazardous waste management policies, hazardous waste incineration and landfill disposal technology, hazardous waste co-disposal technology, and remediation technology and methods for contaminated sites.
