In August, the undergraduate dissertations of Shu Yuanyuan and Zhao Jian of SOE respectively won the National Prize for Excellent Dissertation and S&R Innovation Program at the second session of the 5th Conference of Deans in Water & Wastewater Engineering Institutes in Guilin.
The dissertation entitled, “Degradation of Amine-Based Chemicals during Disinfection as N-Nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) Precursors” by Shu Yuanyuan won the “Lisheng Cup-National Excellent Undergraduate Dissertation of Water & Wastewater Engineering Prize”. The graduation design of “Nitrification-Anammox Process for complete autotrophic ammonium removal” by Zhao Jian was granted the “China Water & Wastewater Cup-National Excellent S&R Innovation Program”.
The two prizes, established by the National Advisory Committee of Water & Wastewater Engineering Major of Institutes of Higher Education in 2007, awarded 15 excellent dissertations and 10 scientific programs once every two years. The undergraduate dissertations of Zhang Cheqiong and Nie Xuebiao of SOE respectively won the Excellent Dissertation Prize in 2007 and 2009.
